Preface

I have had the opportunity to read all of the bios posted on the Virtual Reunion site created by Larry Johnson and was delighted to read about the careers and successes of each and everyone.  Larry is to be commended for the effort he has put forth to compile this web site.

While it has taken me some time to get around to writing my bio, I now do so under duress from both Larry and Miss Janey (Campbell) who has threaten me on a number of occasions and not wanting to have my life cut short I decided living was a better option so the following will give a brief glimpse of the past 45 years.

Bio:

Like many of you I went on to David Lipscomb College and graduated in August of 1967 with a B.S. in Business and then attended Law School at the University of Tennessee.  My plans were to go into the Army’s JAG Corp, but during my first year of school my brother was killed on active duty and later I lost interest in the law so I decided not to finish.

I then spent the next 8 years in sales of office automation equipment and had the opportunity to travel the United States from coast to coast.  In 1979 I joined a computer company in Brentwood and moved to Memphis for a year, then Huntsville, AL for 10 months and then Chattanooga for 6 months, then back to Brentwood.  Between the move from Huntsville to Chattanooga I married a lady named Karen Davis and although we were only married for 11 years she still remains my best friend.

In 1991 I moved to Scottsville, AZ for a year where I tried to help salvage a publicly traded corporation but eventually had to place the company into bankruptcy,

In 1994 I move to Greensboro, NC for a temporary assignment for a telecommunications company and spent 6 months working on special projects.

In 1995 I went to St. Petersburg, Russia on a missionary trip with World Christian Broadcasting which was a very eye opening experience.

In 1998 I semi-retired to take care of my mother and for the next 6 years worked part time at the US Postal service and a business which my ex (Karen) encouraged me to buy but the owner didn’t want to sell so she further encouraged me to go out and start a similar business.  In December of 2004 my mother passed away, which I believe was part of God’s plan for me, because having no longer to provide for her, gave me the opportunity to build and open a store called Olde World Leaf & Ale in July 2005.  Olde World is an upscale cigar and specialty ale store and for the past 3 years I have never worked harder nor had more fun than in the previous 42 years.

If you are in the area please stop by and visit my store at 101 Creekside Crossing, Suite 900 in Maryland Farms, Brentwood, TN.

God Bless All.

Ron
